Background

Vukuzame Liquor Store is a township-based retail liquor outlet located in Atteridgeville, Pretoria. The store required a stronger and more consistent brand presence that could work across its physical storefront, staff uniforms, promotional material and digital communication. The aim was to move the business from a standard liquor retail environment into a recognisable local brand with a bold, memorable identity.

Challenge

The key challenge was creating a brand system that felt modern and visually sharp while still fitting naturally within the store’s township retail context. The identity needed to be simple enough for signage, uniforms and promotional flyers, but distinctive enough to stand out in a competitive liquor retail environment. Consistency across the storefront, wall graphics, apparel and deal posters was important so that every customer touchpoint felt connected.

Outcome

I developed the Vukuzame Liquor visual identity, including the logo design, brand styling and overall graphic direction. The final look uses a strong black-and-white visual system, bold typography and custom line illustrations inspired by liquor retail, celebration and township social culture. This was applied across storefront signage, wall murals, staff mockups and promotional deal posters to create a more unified, professional and recognisable brand presence for the store.
